Jonas Fel'Kona was a Jedi Master a few decades before the rise of Emperor Palpatine and the destruction of the Jedi Order. Jonas was known for his kindness, as well as his respect for all living beings. Jonas was also known for his insistence on discovering new candidates to study at the Jedi Temple, so that they might fill out the Jedi ranks.

Because Jonas believed this to be of such high importance, he spent much of his time searching from one end of the galaxy to the other searching for beings with Force potential. It was Jonas who discovered and brought the great Lanius Qel-Bertuk to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant just two weeks before Lanius' third birthday. An important task for the Jedi was to seek out those who had the potential to become Jedi Knights, and Jonas Fel'Kona was one of the best Jedi Masters to take on this job.
